Социалното дигитално четене (СДЧ) е форма на дигитално четене, което включва споделяне на читателски преживявания и обсъждане на текстови въпроси чрез дигиталните технологии. То може да се осъществи на различни платформи: приложения, социални медии, електронни четци, онлайн сайтове и системи за управление на обучението. Така се улеснява взаимодействието между читателите при съвместното тълкуване и създаване на смисъл, както и при формирането на общност около споделения текст, като четенето се превръща в колективна, динамична и интерактивна дейност. Важно е да се отбележи, че социалното дигитално четене не включва обичайното четене на постове в социални мрежи, а е форма на колективно четене на дигитални текстове в специално създадени общности, които свързват читателите чрез дигиталната мрежа.
